Are you using a 3rd-party firewall? Or is there one installed?

Anyway, I think the "group policy" stuff it's referring to is probably the stuff in Control Panel > Sys. & Maint. > Admin. Tools > Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. (I assume this is Vista, right?) I don't know what the deal is... but maybe you set some stuff there? Or maybe some program did?

you are lucky its Grey... you dont even need it.

unless someone figures out your problem ..you need a firewall urgently .

    Download THIS firewall.

Its the best firewall in the world of CyberGeeks ..even Chris Pirillo recommends it. although he also heard from someone.

I don't really care about a good firewall. I just want the windows firewall enabled so my windows live one care can shut up. I may have disabled a service in services.msc? Does anyone know what service relates to the firewall?

Uh is there a service called "Windows Firewall"?

Also, in XP Pro the group policy stuff is in Control Panel > Classic View > Computer Administration if I remember right. So poke around over there.
