So every time I load these specific applications, I get a Windows installer thing coming up, saying :

"Windows installer - preparing to install"

    then

"Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 - Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003"
-blue bar goes to completion, then:

"Error 2908. An internal error has occurred." Then gives a bunch of letters and #s, and tells me to contact Microsoft support.

I tried to reinstall Office, but it always comes back eventually. Installer cleanup tool didn't work either, although maybe I used the wrong one? Any ideas? I also have had this problem now on two different HDs on the same computer (prior one failed).

Try the following suggestions from Microsoft, provided in KB article KB929681.

If that doesn't do it, then try some of the other interesting hits that came up when I googled on the following: "Error 2908" microsoft office
