I've installed them, and Windows Live says they're installed, but I can't find them anywhere on my drive. When I look for them in the Uninstall Programs panel, they're not there, either.
What am I doing wrong?

I know: my system says that they're installed, but they're nowhere to be found.
-
Start Menu -> All Programs -> Windows Live
At least that is where they installed for me, and they are also listed in the Uninstall Programs List... -
Look in that folder. -
hmm use Windows Search in Start Menu ... just type Mail / Writer / Messenger or any of the programs installed it should find it
-
I should have been more specific.
They weren't in the Windows Live folder under the Start Menu, and they didn't appear when I'd search for them in the Search box in the Start menu, so I thought, "ok, they didn't get installed". When I'd go to the Microsoft website to install them, the Windows Live installer would show all of the programs as installed. I would then look in the Uninstall Programs control panel to try to remove them and start over, but there were no Windows Live programs to uninstall. I tried restoring my system to an earlier point, and Movie Maker and Photo Gallery showed up in the Windows Live folder, but they would fail on launch, so I just went back to my most recent configuration, and they're not in the Windows Live folder again, but the installer says that they're there. Confusing. It's not a big deal, but I'd read that Movie Maker was pretty good for a free program.
Thank you for the suggestions: I should have been more specific as to what I've done so far. -
Could be a problem with Windows Installer.

Thank you: this may be what I need.

It's funny; MS calls them essential but they're apparently not essential enough to be included with Windows.
