I am running Windows Live Mail without major issues on a couple of Windows7 machines. There is one thing that bugs me though; Live Mail always leaves all messages on the server. I currently have to use another mail client to download messages to my computer and clear the messages on my mail server.

I am used to mail clients that provide the option to download or leave on server the messages that I read. I just can't find that setting in Live Mail. Does someone know where it is? Thanks.

Tools -> Accounts. Select email account, click Properties -> Advanced. There's the setting you're looking for.

I don't have a "tools" menu item but I was able to get to the "advanced" item by right-clicking on the account name itself. I found interesting options there such as remove from server after X days and remote from server when deleted from the "deleted items" folder. Very neat all those options. Thanks for leading me to the right spot goofball.

you probably don't have the option to show your menus all the time. I believe if you hit the ALT key, you will see the other menu items you're not seeing now (File, Edit, View, etc).
