I have a webcam, a mic. Both are detected. I have WLM 8.5. When I try to video call anyone, the reqeust gets accepted but after it tries to connect for say 2 minutes, it times out. What can be wrong?
- Ethernet and wireless N
- WLM 8.5
- Vista Ultimate SP1 fully updated
- Windows Firewall default
Could there be a service I need to enable or a program I need to allow through my firewall?

Yes you need to make sure the Messenger services are allowed via windows firewall. I suggest temporarily disabling it first....
Theres 3 services if i remember correctly
-Windows Live Messenger
-Windows Live Messenger Phone

I find WLM just isn't so good with the voice and video stuff. While I love WLM, I suggest for that stuff you just use Skype.
Windows Live Messenger video call doesn't connect
