I'm not sure whether this program has been brought to the spotlight before, but I've constantly been on the lookout for something that would allow me to syncronize files between two PCs with no online storage of any kind.
Windows Live Sync service does just that, and it is completely free. More information here:

In addition to syncing files, it also allows for remote connections. The whole process is extremely easy to set up and does not require a lot of time or effort; at least, it didn't on my part. I have to say, this service is amazing!![]()

I have been trying live sync . It seems pretty sweet. The only concern I have is that after defraging my laptop It wants to re sync all my mp3's. Its been syncing mp3's that are already synced and have not been opened all day.

How does windows live sync work? I just installed it and it's asking me to sign in on both computers. I'm just curious, do the files you choose to sync with go through microsoft servers?

I'm not sure what route the data takes through the internet, but it is encrypted. Nothing is stored on servers, though you can use Live Sync to create Shared Folders.
