    Hello geniuses;

    I'm trying to convert an old dell laptop to XP from ME. I have two problems:
    1. just - HOW?
    2. I've tried installing from the XP disc but the computer keeps telling me that there is not enough room on the drive to make the change despite the fact that there are 7GB open on the drive.

    I really just want to have a clean install of XP and not sure how to get the ball rolling. It is important because if I don't then I won't be able to get some serious work done.

    Do you have a full version of XP? Or an Upgrade version where you would have to install another complete OS first.

    If you can boot to the CD (XP) use it to remove, and repartition, and format the hard drive, then install. From the MS website, it says XP needs:
    1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*
