When on battery power, I get no picture - only sound.

It took me a while to figure out what was causing this, and now i'm wondering how to fix it. Anyone else ever encounter this? I'm using version 10 with nvidia decoder.

Did you mean that 'being on battery power' was the cause (which I wouldn't really say is the root of such a problem), or did you find something else that's causing this?

First thing to do is make sure you got the latest drivers for your video card.

Does the video go out only when you are playing DVDs? Not when you are doing general websurfing/daily tasks?

Sorry, about being a little unclear. I think it is directly related to being on battery power and playing dvd's in wmp, because it works fine with windvd.

Basically, audio playback is normal, but the video stays black in the visualization window. I didn't mean the lcd goes off or anything like that.

It only does this when i'm on battery power. I think i have the most recent whql drivers for my video card.

    Thanks

I'm not sure if WMP would have a setting or not, but you might check in your preferences and see if there is a setting. I've never seen a problem like that, so I really don't have an explanation for it.

    Well, that wasn't very hard...

There's an option in advanced video acceleration settings under performance tab to "optimize performance for batteries." Unchecking it fixed it. Guess it's just another little quirk with this laptop..

    Thanks for the help :)
