hey again guys. whenever i use windows media player 11 (the one that comes with Vista home premium) to play music, there seems to be some type of glitch in the songs.
there is always some type of glitch towards the end of every song i play. it glitches for a few seconds then continues on(i usually just open up the folder with my music, select all and open them up at the same time)
my computer is brand new i have scanned multiple times with ad aware and avg but it says everything is fine

Same problem here, is your comp a dell too? When i got the notebook it did it and continued to do it after a clean install to remove all the crap etc - I just dont use wmp11 anymore, every other media player seems to be fine...
-
Yes, WMP is the worst. I try not to use it unless I have to. Sometimes I don't have a choice as with live streaming media.
-
yea mine is a dell... o well guess ill just switch to another player...
-
do you guys have any players you highly reccommend i should download?
-
I use Gom player and VLC.

FusiveResonance Notebook Evangelist
get the k-lite standard codec pack. Comes with all the codecs youre gonna need plus windows media player classic. WMP classic is a great player with as tiny footprint. not at all a resource hog

You may get by with another media player, but there are millions of people who use WMP w/o error. I have no problem on all of my computers (1 Dell Lattitude) with the player.
Have you tried updating your sound driver? That's where I would start. Then, from within WMP, choose Check for Updates. Maybe there's a codec update that may help.
I think WMP11 is a major improvement over 10. It brought me back from Winamp. I don't mind the resource usage. -
I think this is a known issue.
Songs skip at the start or end on desktops and notebooks.
Maybe there is a fix?
I would just stick with a different media player. -
do you guys know of any programs that are compatible with the front end buttons of the Dell E1505? it seems it only works with wmp
-
I would think (though I'm not sure on this) that those buttons would be tied to whatever is set as your "default media player" (which you can find in "set program access and defaults"). The problem is that a lot of programs don't or can't set themselves as is. I forget the exact reasons why. Sorry, try Google...
By the way, I use foobar2000 for audio and VLC for video. -
It's not really a bug in WMP, but a quick glance at MS Techknowledge forums says that many Dell users are experiencing it.
The consensus seems to be Sigmatel's audio driver or the Draft-N wireless card. Many say that disabling the wireless card corrects the issue. It also sounds like the problem is CPU allotment to audio devices.
I'd say to uninstall your audio driver and reboot. Let the computer reinstall a driver and go from there. If that doesn't work, find the latest driver from your audio card's manufacturer (Sigmatel or Realtek probably).
You can also try disabling audio enhancements. One person also said that a good reformat and not reinstalling Dell's bloatware corrected it. -
Try disabling your 'Sound Enhancements' under Sound Properties. That fixed my sound slowness problem with Media Player.
