Everything was ok till this morning, about 5 hours ago, I was playing L2, nothing more. Shut down lappy came back and WMP wouldn't start...also AIM wouldn't show the chat box properly, and dreamscene couldn't be loaded because I changed my settings? changed them back and it works now.

reinstalled aim but still WMP won't load unless I run it as administrator. And also I can't check the box in compatability to run as admin always...

But wierdly enough youtube will load up WMP to show me videos...

I searched the forums and internet couldn't find anything except reinstall but I can't even find the WMP files to uninstall!!

    Anyone else run into this?

Not a good idea to turn off System Restore. You can adjust the amount of space System Restore takes up by right-clicking the Command Prompt, clicking Run as Administrator, and typing in a command called "vss admin shadowstorage"

That will show you how much space is currently allocated for it. I dont know for sure how to adjust it so I will not cite it. I have done this before though with the help of this board. Search for vss admin or something and you should find your solution.

    Good luck.

You have to be careful about turning off UAC. It should only be done on a clean install. If you have installed stuff with UAC on you could lose access to those files since they are cataloged in virtual space. The data is still there but you can't access it anymore. Read the UAC section of the tweaks guide at the top of the main page.

thanks I just saw that post, so far haven't had any problems in games including Bioshock that I installed before turning off UAC.

Just use a real media player like WinAmp or VLC instead.

oh wait guys i figured out what the problem was. I think that you should do the following to get wmp back in action. Go to start. Open the run windows, there type:regsvr32 scrrun.dll. Then do the same thing for the following other dynamic local libraries:
    regsvr32 jscript.dll
    regsvr32 msxml3.dll
