Windows final releases are worse than Beta so i can assume how unstable Beta must be.

the biggest example is Vista..for first year it was a headache .

btw what is new in it?

yea have the same problem but i realize i cannot have video conversations with contacts with the same beta version . i can make video converstaions with contacts with messenger 8.5 while using the beta 9 version. Another problem i have is when using itunes i song is not shown , maybe it doesn't support itunes i guess.

    Some features:
    • Multiple Points Of Presence Suport - Now you can sign into Messenger v9 from several different locations and remain signed in, In v8.5 and under, signing in at a new pc will sign you out anywhere else.
    • Signature sounds - Make sound signatures instead of just graphical ones
    • Per contact sounds - chose a sound to associate with each of your contacts’ actions
    • Animated Display Pictures - now you can use animated .gif files as your display picture
    • Links in Status Message - Links in the status message are now clickable
    • SPIM reporting - report and block users who spam you via IM.

For my part, it deleted my whole conversation history folder  even if history saving is enabled.

(We all noticed this thread was from January, right?)

Messenger has been folded into the Live Services suite, which includes Live Mail and Live Photo Gallery. It's intended to all fit together and integrates with the online Live stuff like Spaces.

I've been using the Wave 3 Beta stuff and it's pretty nifty. Messenger is very different than before, it actually has the Aero look (finally) and is more Vista-ish in appearance. It's a little BIG tho, like the info box at the top of the windows is way too big and some things just take more space than they really need to. The annoying ads at the bottom remain and are still annoying, tho a-patch can now remove those.

Live Mail is a little better than the default Windows Mail that Vista comes with. Of course there's the Live integration, it seamlessly pulls from Hotmail/Live.com mail and can be the default mail handler for these services.

Live Photo Gallery has some options for publishing to Spaces and is otherwise not much different than the stock Photo Gallery app, tho for some reason, despite getting a lot of heat for having inconsistent GUI stuff, they once again moved things around to strange places. They also made the default background white instead of black, which I think is lame.

I tried it and I liked it, but what made me ditch it was that after I created a group and deleted it, I got an error whenever I tried signing in again. Then after I uninstalled it, I got "catastrophic error" messages when I tried to reinstall 8.5. Well, I guess that's what you get from beta products..

One thing I don't like about it is that now when I'm not by my computer I can't put "Out to lunch" even though I"m actually "Away". Heh just a thing I like to do.

Yeh that's another thing i dont like abt it, how it's limited to Away Busy and offline.Other than that and the audio video setup problem i think it's really good.

But I had to switch back to 8.5 till i find a solution for the audio video setup problem

If they really wanted to improve WLM, they would have taken all the features from Messenger Plus! and A-Patch or Mess.be patch.

    • I don't like this one at all. You'd never know if someones got your login details, can you control whether this option is enabled.
