Hey guys having a problem here which I think may be due to Avast anti-virus.

I am having a problem wherein Windows Search isnt picking up files on my computer. This is a huge problem for me as I have a lot of files on my computer scattered in many different folders.

The problem first started to occur a few days ago after I installed Avast.

I tried to re-register some dlls as recommended on other forums when searching but all but one registered.

I installed Avast and still the results wouldnt come up but then I also indexed and the results did come up as they should. That was a day ago, fast forward to now and its the same issue. I reinstalled Avast yesterday and im thinking it may be the issue but why?

Is there anything I can change in the Avast settings that would stop this from happening?

I just bought Avast and it really would suck if I would have to abandon it and another AV because of this.

Any suggestions given would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Forgot to mention that I did that too...like three times.

I also ran the troubleshooting for search and indexing to no avail.

I would contact Avast for help on this. I tried the free version on my Vaio after upgrading to Windows 7 and the taskbar would vanish and only a restart would bring it back. I got rid of the Avast at that point.

I uninstalled avast and installed AVG. The search was a bit more stable BUT no the problem has started again.

I cannot stand having to index the search every other day.

    Can anyone assist me please.
