It's quite good. The tutorial covers most of the bases and acts as training for the system. When nobody's around I occasionally have fun talking to the computer. :D

i found it pretty crap. about 30% of what i said turned out wrong. probably due to the crap mic, but untill that can be proven, i won't be using it. there are a lot of 3rd party ones that are supposed to be good.

    LOL! :D

I don't have an accent and it worked only about 60% of the time. Granted, my built-in microphone isn't exactly top-notch.

No, this is Speech Recognition. It's recognizes voice commands given by you. Vista does have a program that does this, though...

You need a proper microphone, not the built-in jobbies found in laptops or webcams. With an inexpensive headset (preferably with noise cancellation...my Plantronics set cost me $40), the results are pretty damn good.

Doesn't quite work as well when you're drunk though. :D

I am pretty sure it would be, if there were such a think on my non-English edition. I understand that MS couldn't possibly put every language in the world, but for god's sake, why not putting in at least the English engine?

Anyone knows how to add a different language speech engine?
    Is it possible

I vuud like to exercees ma speeech skills.
