I've been away for a week, and I haven't used a computer during that time, and when I got back the computer did an update and now Windows Update in Vista is looking like Windows 7's WU. Has anybody else noticed this, or is it just me?
-
Noticed it recently as well, looks nicer I have to say
-
It's been like this for almost a month now.

I'm pretty sure mine still looks like good old Vista.
And yes, I have all updates. -

Am I (and Detlev) missing something?? -
Really? Damn, now I really wish I could find my Vista install disk. I guess if I'm just using XP as a game launcher, I shouldn't care too much.

Havent got it either :/ Just ran the check but only the online help and defender definitions are available for me.
Its not anywhere in appearance and themes either. -
i got nothing too..
-
I still don't get it
Can someone explain what has changed, and what you mean by WU
Thanks -
-
yer i dont have it either... just plain old vista for me and i did an update last night... and checked everything on the list...
-
oh wait now i see it on my desktop...
-
oh never mind that IS windows 7.. lol
-
Thanks Detlev
Windows says its up to date, and I have also chosen to get option updates, so I guess I'll have to wait a while and see -
I'm just thinking - what language version is that change on?
There was someone who couldn't see anything in Windows Update on a Scandinavian copy of Vista - it looked quite different though...

My Vista is German and "still the same old self". -
My version is english, and I also have the "old" vista winupdate. I have all optional updates/ms software checked and no changes.
-
I don't know why you'd even want to update to the new look. Yes, it looks like the 7 WU now but it doesn't fit the Vista style.
The original Vista WU looks more integrated with the OS:

I have an English version of Vista Home Premium and the GUI updated for me 2, maybe 3 weeks ago
-
-
Its not about wanting the update- its wondering whats different with my system preventing me from GETTING the update. -
You can always download it manually here if you want to
Windows Update Agent 7.4.7600.226

I don't see what all this commotion is about. There are still people out there who haven't even gotten Vista Service Pack 2 through Windows update yet. -
Anyone has a screenshot of the actual GUI change?? noone posted an image of the changed look...

No change on my machines

Mine changed earlier this week (that's the reason I looked for something about it at the forum). Now then... the interesting fact on my side is that I don't remember to have accepted any updates the moment it changed. I know that probably I was tired or something and I accepted the usual Defender update and the update to WU was together and I didn't noticed... but honestly I don't remember that I did that before the WU look update.
I was so surprised of having and update being installed (once turned on my laptop) that I just said, so I immediately ran WU to check the update history and when I noticed the completely different look I thought "Oh crap... this is some kind of Malware that replaces WU, I knew I shouldn't have visited that pr0n site"
Well... I'm glad it was not Malware hehe. Definitely the Microsoft PR people are not doing their job well, 'cause I would've expected at least some sort of note on CNet or Techmeme about MS refreshing the look of WU.
BTW... I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit English
Attached is my screenshot.

Hmm, just checked my laptop, and it appears to have the old GUI. I have all updates set to install automatically...
-
I too have it old style in my DV7...dunno why since its set to automatically accept and install updates...weird enough, my Vaio already updated the updater...
-
OK... my laptop was on standby overnight - I did not have it set to instal updates by itself - just to look - and it now changed to the "new one".
First impression - very, very ugly.
But then as someone noted before - it does't fit in with the Vista design. -
-
-
My Windows Update hasn't changed.

Probably a late reply, but a couple of hours after I poste my last message here, my Updater changed, I just let Windows Update do its magic by itself...
