So, I've been battling with this for 2 whole days with my new Samsung. I have thoroughly researched, and tried over 5 FixIt tools, Sfc /scannow and a windows readiness tool (it just fails to install).

My problem is that whenever I check for updates, it sometimes says I have 303.2MB of updates (around 53 updates and 2 optional) and other times it says I have no updates. And when I get to the point to install the updates, it just stops out of nowhere and says itself as "canceled" or gets stuck at the downloading process. Can it be my internet?

    Thanks!

Do a clean install - it'll be easier believe me.

Thanks, I actually just been there 10mins ago. Used that and a link from Tom's Hardware (a .bat file to reset the BITS info on windows update) and didn't work.

But now, after 5 Fix It uses, a windows update tool and 3 long painful hours, it finally got fixed somehow. I think all I needed was to turn off the system, not reboot...

    Installing update 6 out of 26 :D

    Thanks all!

If it ever gets stuck in an infinite reboot of "configuring updates" and then says "failed to configure updates reverting changes". Most generally erasing the pending.xml in \windows\winsxs fixes the issue, as a heads up.
