ive got two problems here.
first is Windows Movie Maker. ive made one movie using this and when i attempt to make another one it quits before or after i load the video file.
now on to Windows Update. ive tried everything to get it to work again but nothing worked. ive tried downloading thru IE, error code 80070422. ive checked and the service is running so why am i getting this error code? someone mentioned doing a system repair but i am not too keen with computers so i will more than likely screw that up.
what can i do to solve these problems?![]()

Re: Movie Maker. Provide more details on the video and exactly what steps you accomplish. -
i have followed those steps as those were in the help window and the service is running.
i was loading a pro wrestling video that was in three parts. movie maker will either stop before completely loading file or two seconds after loading the file. -
anybody there???
-
What computer and OS are you running? When did these problems start happening?
-
i have a hp dv9335nr with vista premium.
movie maker started acting up a few days ago.
windows update has been acting up for the past two weeks. -
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
1. Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button , clicking
Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking
Administrative Tools.
2. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator
password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Right-click the "Windows Modules Installer" service, and then click
Properties.
4. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure that Manual is
selected.
Click OK, reboot, try again -
that solved my windows update problem.
i tried to load a pro wrestling video into movie maker only to get kicked out of the program. -
I had similar issues when I was torturing myself with using moviemaker--i think it was due to the size of file or format.
Try coverting the format to something else -
now moviemaker works just fine. i also would like to know if there are better programs for joining videos together. i have tried virtualdub but that went nowhere fast. i couldnt append another video to the one that was open. i guess its not compatible with vista.

As far as freeware, you won't find anything better than WMM, or VirtualDub. I know they both suck big time. However, if you ever decide to pay for one, you will find plenty of good ones.
Personally, I use Ulead Video Studio and couldn't be happier. You can download a free trial to see if you like it, and if you do, you can buy it cheap from ebay(they go for about $25 there) -
now it works fine...what? After changing the file format?
-
i loaded avi version of the file and the original wmv version and i didnt get kicked out of the program. i dont know what happened. this even surprised me! what do you think?
edit: correction i now get the message the movie maker has stopped working and the option of sending info to M$. i just now tried it and this message came up. so much for it fixing itself. -
whats going on here???
-
basically, i would guess, windows movie maker is just too limited to deal with very large videos.
How much memory do you have? More would help. Have you defregged your drive? That woul help too -
i have 2 gigs of memory and i defragged yesturday.

this is in need of bump...i think?
