I have update scheduled to activate every night at 1:00am.

It keeps downloading and installing Vista SP2, then downloading and running the uninstall tool for SP2, then installing SP2 again.

Any ideas how to stop this cycle?

I wasn't aware that _Vista SP2 had been released to market; isn't it still in beta?

Settings Automatic Updates to only notify you of updates should stop it from actually downloading and installing those two patches over and over again. I recommend that setting generally as you'll have the patches installed quite quickly if you want them but you don't have to wait for the computer to install them right away if you don't want.

There is a way to block certain updates in Vista from Automatic Updates, but I don't remember how to do it myself. It may be necessary to first choose a setting other than "Automatically install all updates".

In XP security center it's "download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them" Once you get the notice, from there you choose which ones you want.

Then why would it be showing up via the automatic update mechanism?
