    Hey all,

I've been doing a good job downloading fixes and patches via Windows Update.

However, I've been trying to download SP1 but Windows Update keeps telling me my computer is up to date. What gives?

I know that SP1 is a culmination of patches that I've been downloading in addition to other fixes. However, when I check the version of Windows I have, there is no "Service Pack 1" indicated.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Check the thread here.

It may be a driver issue, or you might be able to get it by following the link to MS online.

That thread is very long and it's lots of pages of digging for info.
*Essentially, if you installed the SP1 RC, uninstall it first before going to windows update or else it won't show.
    *Install all the recommended downloads.
*For some reason, if your download list isn't blank it won't show the service pack. Any optional updates you don't want to install (i.e. video drivers or silverlight) have to be hidden.
    *Finally check out this link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948343
If you have those outdated drivers listed on the Method 5 Solutions then it will block the download on windows update. Update them and try again. You can also check out the rest of the info to see if it is relevant to you.

According to MS the auto update won't be on-line until mid April.

I think its likely due to driver issues. I shall check into that later. I don't really want to dive right into SP1 without giving it some time.

    Thanks!

The update is available now, as long as you meet some fairly strict guidelines for download plus it is listed as an optional update(I think). The mid-April auto update changes it to recommended plus will provide most drivers on windows update.

I see mine, but I'm waiting for a program to update for compatibility before i upgrade. I even have an important update hidden and all. Strange.
