When doing clean install with Windows XP SP3, should I install the updates from Windows Update first or should I install Manufacturer Drivers first?

    I have Sony FW190

Usually Windows Update will have the latest drivers for the installed hardware. The only time I install a manufacturer's drivers is when Windows Update doesn't have 'em.

I always do windows update first, except for the "special cases", like Graphic drivers (100% of the time) and some times sound (my wife's DELL 1520 for example, that has a microphone that is not detected by MS drivers although they claim they do).

    Basically I always go
    1. Windows install
    2. Graphic drivers
    3. Win update
    4. everything else
