Well, got a new computer and everything was going fine.

However, I noticed that there were two updates available so I clicked download. An hour or so later I noticed that they had not downloaded at all so I cancelled the download. I then closed windows update and tried to restart. However, it will not run now. It opens the window box but no text or anything displays. You cannot close the box unless you use the control panel.

I decided to see if I could use system restore so tried to run that. Nothing happens. I try to run it again and I am informed that the client is already running!

I have tried to restart but no good. Windows update has vanished from the taskbar. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED???

Ok, I think I fixed it. Zonealarm seems to have been the problem. I removed it and now everything works. I must have messed up the settings and it must have been blocking something.

I will reinstall and try again.
