Is it really that hard to get this DVD

I ordered mine from Microsoft back on October 24 and numerous e-mails later I still don't have it.

They say they have sent out two so far, yet I don't have a DVD in my hand. This last batch of emails claim that they mailed it out via the US postal service, which is dumb in my opinion. For the $7 shipping I paid, they could have sent it out UPS ground with a tracking number and delivery confirmation.

I choose to go with Microsoft since I heard that CompUSA was bad about shipping it. Guess I shouldn't have assumed Microsoft would be any better.

Are there any other more reliable places that I can get this DVD?

I had the same issue... it took over 3 weeks to get my dvd - 64 bit version, now its almost 3 weeks again since I ordered the 32 bit version. These guys are a joke. They suggested going into a retail store like Best Buy to buy the anytime upgrade dvd.

I ordered one on Oct 4. Called on the 17th since I hadn't received it. They said it had been sent out, but then said they would send another one. On Nov 2, still hadn't received either copy. They sent me another one. Nov 4 - received two copies in the mail (same day). and just last week third copy arrived.

I was going to just go to Best Buy, but I was told they don't carry them.

Do the box stores carry the DVD in stock?

I am lucky. I have the upgrade dvd data stored in my hard drive. I am planning to do a clean install with that.

Yeah, getting these things is a pain. You can also try to order it from compusa, but I don't think they have them in the store. If you have access to a retail disc you can use that, as long as you use your license key.

Unfortunately I only have Vista Business retail, which I don't want to put on my laptop.

I'm holding onto that for my desktop build.

I ordered mine through CompUSA. I got mine in 3 weeks. Just be patient. I am not sure what the deal is with Microsoft though...

I don't think you're understanding me. You already have the disc you need. There is no difference between the disc you have and the anytime upgrade disc, they are identical. If you follow my clean install guide (in my sig), you can use ABR to backup your key and activation, then use the disc you have to install the version you have, like Home premium, then use ABR to restore your key and activation. Doing that uses the license that came with your laptop, not the retail one.

Just don't type in the key that's on the retail box, and you won't have used that license.

LOL... here I thought it was just me that had an issue with Microsoft.

After not receiving my order after 3 weeks, I contacted MS via email. I got a response that they would ship another one in its place. I then waited another couple of weeks and went through the same thing again.

In any event, I ended up with 3 copies!!! Two of which were sent via UPS. Good grief!
