My question is will an upgrade/customs installation of Windows 7 from Windows Vista OEM using retail Windows 7 upgrade disc invalidate Vista licence key ?

If you use an "upgrade license", yes.

In my experience I've had luck with clean installations and upgrade installations using the upgrade license.

Someone also told me that if you tried to do a clean install from an upgrade license, the installation will ask you for the key for a previous version of windows to validate that it is a legal upgrade. I've never had that happen to me though.
