    Hi all,

Does anyone know of confirmed **legitimate** Windows Vista 64-bit ISO images for download, similar to the ones in the Windows 7 threads? I've got one with SP1 but would prefer to update it to SP2 to save some time having to run the service pack once install is complete.

I tried Googling it, and only managed to find some, shall we say, less savoury links  What I want are legitimate ISOs that need you to enter your own product key upon installation for activation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have not seen any. Probably have to slipstream or reverse integrate SP2 into your Vista with SP1.

Vista SP2 isn't crappy, IMO. There's a much bigger difference in terms of stability and performance between Vista RTM (SP0) and SP2,
than between Vista SP2 and Windows 7.

Older Vista is sluggish, but SP2 works great.

    Thanks for the replies!

I have Win7 running on one of my other PCs, but because I need Windows Mail, I have no choice but to run Vista on my main work PC. There's a hack to enable WM on 7, but I'd rather not mess around with it, since it appears that Windows Updates can sometimes break the functionality. I don't want to have sleep uneasy at night just to use a newer OS :)

Mats - do you have any links to guides to slipstream SP2? I have my Vista with SP1 both on DVD, and on a flash drive - an easy-to-follow guide would be greatly appreciated!

ps - and yes, Vista with SP2 runs perfectly, no issues whatsoever. Really not much of a difference from 7, and I have experience using both OS's.

    Thanks, Anyooshka!

However, that mediafire link is dead, I did find it earlier on my Google searches :(

I guess I will take your advice, Mats, and just install SP2 separately each time :(

Use some form of imaging software, no need to reinstall everything every time.
If you've got Business or Ultimate: Back up your programs, system settings, and files

NBR only accepts ISO's from Microsoft, third party download sites aren't allowed, AFAIK.

    Hi all!

I would use a backup solution, but my systems use SSDs and I've heard horror stories of wrongly-aligned installations using backup-restores. I do reinstalls after every 9-12 months on each system to clean up the crap, etc so my Vista USB thumbdrive has proven very useful on several occasions.

3Fees - you mean you have the physical DVDs? I know that MSDN and Technet subscribers can download the ISOs, but haven't found any site that has a working torrent for these uncracked, legit ISOs.

    Cheers!
