It will surely go down in history as a brother to Windows ME.

You really should read some threads before posting...this has been discussed in a previous thread...and, for good measure, I would add that if you meet the specs required to run Vista, it has performed quite well (for me and from what I understand, for a number of other people as well - but then again, if you don't read the previous discussions, you may not know this!)
For your ready reference: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=381750 -
It's funny because everyone (including myself) in the other topic bashed Time's ignorance, not Vista.
The ONLY problem with Vista is that it's negative reputation is perpetuated by end-users like yourself who do not even use it. -

Just like a penguin lover to trust a main stream news magazine for technical assessment of something for which that magazine has zero credentials to critique. Do you read Sports Illustrated for all your financial news too?

I think Vista is great it`s a lot more stable than Xp in my experience.

Hey, I like Vista and that's a big thing.
I used to hate it in the beginning, then I tried Vista 64bit, now I can't go back to crummy, outdated, not as good at performing in complex programs XP or Mac OSX Tiger. -
+1 for this!
Vista runs fine for me too! If you can do better, let us know
Maybe you as the user is problem not the Vista ?! -
It's popular and "hip" to hate Vista. If it was truly one of the biggest tech failures, Microsoft would not be dominating the market.
-
I like Vista more than XP. XP is a unsafe OS and too easy to be damaged. i always need to reinstall it every two months before Vista launched.
-
Vista rocks, though I did disable UAC, other than that, stable and fast.

Perhaps you missed my sig? I sold my hp dv9500t last year (3 months after buying it) and bought a Macbook Pro instead. By comparison, it's a bargain at twice the price; much nicer hardware and a superior OS. Once OSX 10.6 comes out later this summer, it'll have features that Windows can only dream of... OpenCL, Grand Central, etc.
At work, we've eliminated all of our Windows servers (except for one) in favor of HP-UX. MUCH much much higher scalability (32 CPU's and 288 GB of RAM - try doing THAT with Windows!
) and far better reliability. The one remaining server is Exchange email server, and we're evaluating alternatives this year to eliminate that one as well.
Adios Microsoft! and good riddance.
That's why I come here - for the lulz!! Thanks, and keep em coming!!
IMO Windows 2000 was the last decent Microsoft OS. Each one after that has been successively worse in all regards - security, stability, performance, etc. They rush the product to market, half-baked, then spend the next 3 years patching all the flaws. No thanks!

This article lists YouTube as a failure... Why?
-
64-bit Windows Server 2008 Datacenter can handle 2TB of system RAM... just FYI.
[ Source] -
I think because it makes next to no money.
Also, this thread = Fail. Was done a couple of days ago. -
Or who have no idea how to use the OS and blame Microsoft for thier own ignorance and lack of knowledge. I do get tired of people bad mouthing something because they choose to remain ignorant and not seek knowledge for themselves.

Oh, I see. So you just come here to troll then. Well that's nice. Now just go back to your Sports Illustrated and read up on the latest news on financial derivatives and credit default swaps.
Gary -
Well, that's ultimately what I am getting at. I just avoid saying "ignorant" because people too often take it very offensively.
-
+1 for this and agree with liquidxit2

Now don't go confusing the poor boy with FACTS like that. He'll begin to question his Sports Illustrated sources for financial news.

I think vista is better than XP in almost all kind of aspects...
except some gaming issues... but basically if ur comp is pro enuf den vista had no problems for gaming at all...
XP is not as easy handle as vista... XP is very easy to spoil oso...
registry errors = XP favourite friends...
vista hav lesser registry errors and the theme is nicer than XP LOL!
however windows 7 wil b the 1 who surpass windows vista i guess...
i m not sure but i heard windows 7 graphic on par wif vista and uses less resources as compared to windows vista... -

Vista is a fail. Every thing has a up and down. Vista as an investment was a fail. Youtube is a fail because Google bought it for couple billion, and the result was google has to spend more money on youtube than the money it makes.
Vista is a superb OS if you're talking about its usability and stability. There's no doubt about that. I love youtube as well as a form of video service.
Who cares if Vista fails as long as i'm the one who's benefitting. LOL
MacOS isn't for me because it isn't compatible with anything I have, legally at least. -
That post has been debated and debunked already on several other websites, most notably the Hardforum thread on top tech 10 failures of the past decade.
I do however agree that Vista was a PR bomb that allowed Mac to take a nice bite out of the market through the Mac vs. PC commercials. Though I doubt it really managed to influence anyone other then those weak of mind. -
Typical s MAC-tard a day late and a dollar short.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=381750 -
Agreed! Vista run's great. Too many naysayers who are ignorant of it perpetuating the myth its a bad OS.
And as was said previously, i wouldnt exactly consider Time to be a reputable source of tech info.

Keep Vista clean and it's a relatively fast, stable OS.
I can't say anything bad about Windows 7. -

Multics was considered fail and was replaced by the unix project both started in 1969. Funny how multics was in mainstream use until 2000 and mainly died due to a lack of running on microkernel architecture.
Vista has some problems, but I have no issues on a daily basis with it and all my software works. I will use it until asus comes out with proper stuff for 7 after its released. -

Windows Datacenter edition is also such a bizarre niche product that Microsoft doesn't even support it! You can't even buy it from Microsoft! It is sold only by systems vendors who sell the hardware, and it is supported only by those same vendors. And did you assume you could run just any old software on Windows Datacenter? Of course not! It has to be on the "approved" list. Not exactly confidence inspiring if you know what I mean.
HP-UX has been fully 64-bit since 1996. Microsoft couldn't even spell "64 bit" back then. And don't even get me started on the pathetic excuse for a filesystem that is NTFS.
Would be nice to get some more replies with facts in them instead of all the "Vista is teh rox0rs!!" fanboi comments. -
Are you still using Windows 2000? Time to grow up
