Hello all, I’ve pretty much just encountered a little worry some issue – that – would I have been in the UK, would be a non-issue – considering I’m far away from my recovery discs and my Software discs (and keys) it’s a little worrying.

    The problem is as follows:
If I try to start the laptop it starts to boot – until the “loading bar” – now, those who are familiar with the SZ it gets to the point where my WLAN and Bluetooth light are on – and then its stuck… it just continues with the loading bar and nothing happens…
Now, sometimes just shutting down via the power button and restarting helps – sometimes I boot into safemode (which works without a hitch), shutdown and then it boots up fine – I don’t need to do anything in safemode.
Obviously I do not get any error messages – where from…

Normally I’d just reinstall the OS – problem solved… but as mentioned above – I can’t do that right now.

What I have done is run sfc /scannow – which doesn’t find any issues…

The thing is, it happened pretty much out of nowhere – I couldn’t tell why it suddenly occurred.
Any help would be very welcome :) :)

    Many thanks!

    Edit:
    I'm using an Intel SSD.

Not sure if doing a 'CHCKDSK' would help it's maybe worth a try and also check your MSCONFIG to see if maybe theres a program at start up causing this.
    cheers

Why Chckdsk - on that note - I didn't spell out that I use an Intel SSD.
(I know - a harddrive could have errors)

I've run malwarebytes and MSE - so I'm pretty sure there isn't anything - not sure how anything could get onto my laptop anyway (I'm not actively looking for malware)

Also there isn't anything suspicious if I look at everything via Autoruns...

An error report would be great but I don't get one...

    Update:

Ok, so I ran a ckchdsk... - nothing that I noticed... while it ran - just logged on, but I noticed something:

It hangs before the chdsk could run - so the question is - what is loaded immediately before that? - Anybody got any ideas?

    Edit:
Found some errors in my logs out of nowhere - that don't help...

But this sounds like my problem...
    http://www.vistax64.com/vista-perfo...ta-hangs-shutsdown-5-mins-after-reboot-2.html

And no hardware errors in my device manager.

    Edit2:
Used autoruns to chuck out any non-windows service - still the same problem...
heck it was much worse on one occasion and now I am finally back "In"... gah :(

    Edit3:
this just took a turn for the worse... i cannot boot into Windows any more it seems - but safemode works.
...makes me wonder what I should do in Poland... use SafeMode or a Linux Liev CD to copy all photographs I'll be shooting over to my external HDD.... :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Does the performance manager in Control panel tell you anything?

If you can tell me what to look up... - or where to look.

On that note... I got it back to boot up - by using the "diagnosis ption" in mS Config - i.e. no system processes etc. are running...

I suppose I could switch them on one by one.

    Edit:
And if you press F8 then select a normal start - its about 12s until the problem occurs - which doesn't really help...

At least it's a start, and the process of elimination usually gets you there in the end; If a bit time consuming.
The performance log can be found in Control panel - System and maintenance- Advanced - Perfomance logs, This MAYBE give you a clue as this would list any critical boot up times.

I suppose... at the same time its a ticking time bomb...

That should help pinpointing the error...
    http://forums.tweakguides.com/showthread.php?t=6622

It tells me which drivers are loading... maybe I can find my issue like that :)

The perfromance log didn't have anything interesting in it - sadly...

The problem is also - either I boot at a normal speed or not at all... although I don't think its a driver... because it goes through those OK... - or at least nothing from the system...

found the same kind of problem here... Vista ultimate stuck loading (Green Bars) - Vista Forums just my intel graphics driver hasn't changed...

Sorry, I can't help you any further Detlev. My knowledge of this kind of situation is minimal. Although if I do find, or think of something that will aid you I will post back.
    Cheers.
What about Event Veiwer in Control Panel.

    Update:

Just installed a new Intel Graphics driver - just because someone in one of the links said it was a graphics problem in his case - oddly enough it works right now - it seems well too... I'll keep an eye open and I might be back in here...

    Update:
    It didn't solve my problem...

Looks like I can't shut down for a while and I just hope that my recovery discs won't get lost in the mail...
