    Hi Guys,

I have been tweaking a Latitude XT for the optimal performance. I wanted to get some recommendations for the page file size. Here are the pertinent specifications of the unit:

    Intel ULV7700 1.33 Ghz Core2Duo Processor
3.0 GB DDR2 RAM (with about 2813 MB available as per Windows Task Manager)
Integrated ATI Radeon Express 1250 graphics
    120GB 5400 RPM 1.8" PATA drive.

I am hoping to go with a static page file. On system idle, the memory usage is approxiamtely 776 MB with pagefiling turned on (when page file is turned off it goes to a max of 1.1 GB when programs are being installed, etc.)

I would appreciate any advice on the matter. I have heard that completely turning off the page file can hinder performance, so hence would like to know the ideal page file size. Also, I should note that this machine won't be used for anythign too intensive. Only Office 2007, web surfing, email, and inking.

    Thanks in advance!

1GB or 2GB should be enough if you have 3GB or physical RAM. I am using 3GB + 3GB on my main machine where I have innumerable applications open and I have never run out of RAM.

    well 1GB - 1300MB of page file, 2GB - roughly double, 3GB - roughly triple..!!

Depends upon how much free space on your hard drive..!!
and you could try keeping the initial and maximum size the same..!!

If 3GB and not heavy usage, you could try setting the page file at about 2000 ~ 3000MB....!!

check out this thread, this stuff was being discussed here a few days ago.... :)

I'd say about 1 to 2GB would be fine.
