Have Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit), and as far as I'm aware, I haven't recently installed any new drivers or strange programs, or anything of the sort. Every time I turn on the computer, Vista begins to start normally. The Welcome screen comes up, I select my user name, the desktop loads up, and everything appears to be working just fine for about 20 seconds, but then it just freezes up. I can't select anything, click the start menu, or use Ctrl-Alt-Delete (the only thing that will work is the mouse). This started to happen a month ago...
My system:
HP Pavilion dv8320us Entertainment Notebook PC
Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP1 with the latest updates
Intel Centrino Duo Mobile T2050 (1.6 Ghz, 2Mb L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
2 Gb RAM DDR2
160 Gb HD with dual hard drives
Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 256 Mb Graphics Card
Any suggestions will be welcome,
Thanks in advance...

Have you tried starting up in safe mode and see if you could check some log files for any error information or error codes?? May be it will help better if you could know what the error actually is....
Just found this on the web....
But you could probably try the in-place repair option if you have the Vista disc... it works on many occasions..
Edit: Another thing you could do is to try and turn off some startup program' and see if its ok then.. like some program' which you have installed just before you started having this problem or some program' which you don't need at startup anyways, because you could have them later on if needed.... just a thought. -
