How much space is needed to install vista?
And what speed does the HD NEED to be?
-
30-40 gigabytes of hard drive space will run Vista comfortably, anything more than that and you will be fine.
I would recommend atleast a 5400RPM hard drive, though Vista will work fine on a 4200RPM drive. The 5400RPM drives balance battery and speed perfectly however, and the speed difference is greater from 4200 to 5400 than it is from 5400 to 7200. -
Its not being run on my laptop though. Its being run on another PC.
the most I can think of is a 13GB Drive I got kicking around, might be able to steal the HD in my mom's PC for the day though. -

How much does the Vista install take up?
-
Ouch, I wouldn't run Vista on only a 13GB drive, at the bare minimum I would say 15-20GB, 15GB being bare minimum.
If you are just doing it for fun you can always try though. -

Just for the Vista installation and a 2GB paging file it's 12.5GB for me with updates.

Ohh, I see. So the 13GB could work?
I am only installing, to have fun, might download MSN to talk to friends while I'm at it to. So the 13GB might work, but its not for sure. -
