OK. I was tired of trying to adjust my WUXGA monitor for comfortable viewing in Windows XP and decided to see if Windows Vista would make things easier.. and holy crap did it ever.

First, the install process was almost fully automated and took only twenty-some minutes.

Second, all drivers (except for Ricoh card reader) were installed automatically!

Third, and most important, changing DPI to 120 made me finally realize how beautiful the screen is! Windows Vista seems to properly scale fonts almost [so far] everywhere!

Fourth, flip-3D (Vista Aero theme) feature runs amazingly fast on my 7900GS.

Fifth.. I am still discovering. Windows XP looks like a joke compared to Vista. I can't wait for the final version to come out.

    My system: 9400/T7400/2GB/7900GS/100GB 7200rpm

the only thing is that Vista is still relatively untested in the security realm. i plan on upgrading, but i also plan on giving them time to fix all the bugs and release stable drivers for all of my existing hardware.

and i have a lot of hardware, in which i'm not replacing a single thing just because it is incompatible...i just won't upgrade the OS for a while.

anyway, that rant being over, i personally can't wait to try the new OS on my nc8430. i do want to see what it offers over XP.

please, do keep us informed of your thoughts regarding Vista... :)

:) I have to uninstall it since my Nortel VPN client does not want to work. *sigh*

Will wait until the final version is released.

sounds like a good start :)

I wonder if some of my XP drivers will work on Vista though (like some 2k drivers worked on XP) because I know that I'm not getting driver updates for one or two of my usb devices...
