Here is the hack to allow the download with Windows Update: View attachment VistaSP1.zip .

I guess this might be the final build before the official (RTM) version of Windows Vista Service Pack 1. And yes, it's that new build everyone's talking about.

At least say something after you see this... :).

PS: Build number suggests this being the RTM build.

Actually I can't install it since it needs 3GB of free space and I have to reinstall Vista to get that space (winsxs folder is like 10GB+).

Thankyou for posting fade. I will be trying it out tonight or tommorrow. If you can beat me to it do you know if this newest refresh fixed the issue of vsync not working when enabled in the nvidia control panel. This problem started when vista came out and was fixed. Since sp1 it is back again. ex: Vsync works in game but not through the nvidia control panel. Thanks

    JBlue, thanks.
Anyway, installed and can't see much difference (noticeable when browsing through the computer), but there's always something you can't see.

Not sure, it will not say anymore, but I think it's something like 6001.18000. It just says SP1.
Everest says that Internet Explorer is version number 7.0.6001.18000.

Ditto, why should we wait with installing something that going to fix a whole bunch of Vista bugs now even if it still in development. Since this website deals with people who have notebooks I'm hoping this isn't there only comp.

So this is the RC "Refresh" or is this yet another build (not saying that in a bad way, the more builds the better the final product...we hope). (Is it version Service Pack 1, v.744?)

On a note, I've been so satisfied with Vista as of late that I don't dual boot on my notebook any more. Now as for my friends computer it f***** up, Vista's activation didn't stick and now it won't activate again, oh snap! He has a bunch of MS techs working on it, they think the key is corrupt.

Gotta admit Im itchy to try and return with opinion as to changes, which I have seen very little of by the way.

But then, I hate to fool with a system that is running so well...

Right click on "My Computer" or "System" in the Control Panel and under what edition you have and the copy right it will tell you what version of the service pack you have. Could you tell me the last three numbers? Should be something like v.644 or v.744.

It just says SP1. Haven't you read the thread? I'm not an idiot, I know that's where the version number is supposed to be.
Also, the version number on the desktop is gone. Like I have said BEFORE Internet Explorer is version number 7.0.6001.18000, if this helps.

The first public beta has been working very well, no complaints/problems. I wouldn't think that you would be screwing up your computer. I run a laptop, and it is my only computer, no worries.

RangerXML, I didn't even though so, but just pointing that out. It's my fault for assuming so.
I don't like quoting myself, but "Not sure, it will not say anymore, but I think it's something like 6001.18000. It just says SP1.
Everest says that Internet Explorer is version number 7.0.6001.18000.". It feels strange to quote myself...

Trust me first time I installed the SP1 BETA all hell broke loose on my notebook, there were still network slowdown issues on the first RC (like Vista Vanilla goodness) and some folks have reported that Vista network activity is still slower then XP with the refresh (I found a great network tweak that streamline network stuff in Vista so I'm good).

Yup, thats the build number, not the version. Guess they got rid of it, I gotta find my copy of Everst and look it up.

EDIT My current on it is 7.0.6001.17128, so I guess it is a newer. Made me find Everst...

It's not bad, I don't see any problems. This is some sort of RC2 or RC1 R2. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but the EULA is the one from the future retail version (supposedly).

Ranger, curious what tweaks helped out your networking?

...although its faster, it still takes a few seconds (minutes :S) longer than it should to print to a printer connected to a networked computer.

It might be a legit leaked SP1, who knows. I'm just backing up some stuff on Vista before uninstalling SP1 RC Refresh, does this still have a water mark (not that it matters with dreamscene)?

As for network optimization look up a program called TCPoptimizer, I found it on EEEuser.com in the forums. I'm like what the hell and tried it on my desktop and was supprised.

    Guys,

I did install SP1 and found that my system hangs all of a sudden. I had this issue atleast 4 to 5 times after i installed Sp1. That is when i decided to uninstall it. Like what flameko said! I Hate to screwup a system which works very well!! so lets wait till we have a stable version of this patch! ofcourse final version so that i could install it!! am sorry i do not want to be a Alpha or Beta tester!! I am a tester by profession,, i know how unstable a software can be especially when it in the UAT Phase!

arunragavan, it's supposed to be another refresh to the RC1 or being actually the RC2. I'm not sure about the version, as I have said, twice. It just freaking says SP1 and no build number. The evaluation version thing on the desktop is also gone. Someone who read the EULA said that is says something about retail (probably it's the final version of the EULA).
Install it if you want, Microsoft will probably release it anyways.

Takes some time, but it shows up after some time. With the prior two you could just reboot the computer and it would show up, but with this one it takes about 15 min before it will let you download the new SP1. Running it, no hang ups. Smooth as silk.

That's a fake image. That either that program sucks. Internet Explorer version 6.00.6001.18000? That's like having IE6 in Vista. Bull****.
Anyway, what I have here is the latest build. Mine is not SP1, yours is not SP1. SP1 will probably be launched later in February/March.

I was referring to the build number. I've had it for a few days now and couldn't really figure out why people call it RTM.
I shall bow down to no one:
"Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of Circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
    Under the bludgeonings of Chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul."

    Thanks Dreamer!

Probably right, but could also be RC1 Refresh 2 and just that. I don't think Microsoft ever stopped at RC1.
