Does anyone know what time it will be released tomorrow? 12 am midnite?lol
-
No, probably around the middle of the day.
-
Its gonna take forever to download the standalone with everyone trying to download it at once
-
Yeah, but it woun't do you any good, as you can't integrate it (slipstream it). You'd be better off by installing it from Windows Update.
-
Is it so critical to your life that you have to know exactly what time its gonna be out???
I didn't think so.
Just be thankful it IS coming out! -
Calvin, I was kidding lol.
And Ranger, I hope not. There's 3 categories of ppl for this. 1. The ppl who have it already. 2. The ppl who don't know about it/care. And 3. Little minority people who waited for this day(like me).
Tee-hee. -
And people who could of got hold of it earlier...
-
That's #1 son. -
No, that's not number one. That's number four.
-
-
I highly doubt SP1 will change much.
For the XP/OSX/Linux guys, Vista will still suck, and for the Vista guys, "Hey, lookie, it says SP1 in the Control Panel". -
Pardon my noobness, but wtf is slipstreaming. ;[
For the ppl who have it already, how long did it take to DL and install? -
<nokidding>
-
-
Anyways w/e it means, why is that bad? -
Don't worry about it. It will never affect you.
-
what is the difference between stand alone and slipstream? The way that the question is answered below is a bit confusing....or maybe i'm just a little slow in the head. The way I understand it, is to download the standalone update and not the slipstream update if I already have vista. Am I correct?
Q. What is a stand-alone installation delivery method of Windows Vista SP1?
A. In a stand-alone installation, you use the stand-alone pack to upgrade computers that already are running the Windows Vista operating system. The download size of the stand-alone package is larger than the package applied with Windows Update. This method is recommended for: 1) Applying SP1 to computers without (or with limited) Internet connectivity 2) Applying the service pack to more than one computer using deployment tools such as Systems Management Server 2003 (SMS) or System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (SCCM).
Q. What is the integrated installation delivery method of Windows Vista SP1?
A. An integrated installation (also known as "slipstream installation") means that the service pack is integrated into the operating system, and therefore the operating system and service pack are installed simultaneously. You can use the integrated installation to upgrade computers running Windows XP and to perform clean installations on computers that do not have an operating system. -

Since all versions of Vista are on one disc, but MS claims that it would be to complicated for them them to make it so it could be slipped...office has a simple update directory, I call bull.
I fall under the have it, but I need it since I have to reinstall and install Vista on a couple of machines and this would be faster. And yes, its going to be a long day tomorrow trying to download the standalone. -
But what's the 3GB SP1 RTM huh?
-
Can you guys tell me what time it ll EXACTLY come out..so i can get it before you guys ..
Well on a serious note..
Does anyone have a detailed list of fixes in SP1 .. would like to know if it was worth the wait or should i finally return to XP. -
I remember someone posting it in a thread...I'll try and look for it.
-
You will already have most of the fixes included in sp1 if your up-to-date on windows updates
Still no SP1.. I stayed up till 1:30am last night and still no sign of SP1. Ill check again when i get home. -
I for one am stoked about it. SPs usually make things better. Lets hope Vista SP1 falls under this.
-
EDIT: Oh, you live in Australia. It will probably come out in the mid-afternoon when its the 18th in the States. -
Lol I will be running windows update once every 10 minutes after 12.00 a.m. tonight.
-
lmfao. once it's available, someone make a thread letting us know. talking to you coolguy since you are gonna run update every 10 mins. ;]
-
-
Lol, I was talking to my friend and I mentioned something about being excited for SP1. She looked at me blankly and said, "What's a SP?"
-
If you're so intent on getting it soon, why not just do the registry hack?
-
You'd have to be really impatient to do that now. -
Agreed. I'd much rather wait for the real thing then chance messing with the registry.
-
I cant wait! I'm somehow hoping it will fix my audio skipping issue. Maybe?
-
-
-
well be ready for SP1 with your download manager while you sleep off
Dg -
I'll probably be ice skating when SP1's released.

The standalone installer will be a executable (.exe) not a Windows Installer File (.msi) -
-
is it confirmed to be out today?
-
EDIT: Its officially the 18th here. (12:06 AM), just ran Windows Update, no updates available. =[ -
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
But nonetheless, everyone is going to have to acquire a Vista disc with SP1 already integrated if they don't want to download the installer via Windows Update or standalone. -
What's wrong with DLing SP1 from Windows Update now as opposed to Automatic Updates on April 18? Explain please -
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
-
Oh I see. Yes.
By less clutter what do you mean though. DLing the standalone has more crap than having it integrated.? -
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
Having it integrated means that the files are already updated/replaced. Run the standalone installer or even via Windows Update would mean it has to extract all the files needed and then replace or update. This would mean more clutter in the registry or perhaps Windows archive.
It's like updating a program multiple times. You're going to have several backups upon backup files. Some of those files aren't needed anymore because they are either replaced/updated. It would be best if you got the final version and started from there. (ex: XP with SP2 integrated as opposed to XP (first build - No SP)). -
Oh. Could that be cleaned with like Ccleaner? LOL
-
funny joke about SP1 check it out at http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/36505/113/ and http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/akiba/hotline/20080315/etc_vistasp1nv.html
