    Why would you hope for it to slow down the entire system by 10%? Sure, it changed the OS monumentally... it was like a totally different OS almost... but it's arguable if it was worth it. I hope it does all the improvements of XP's SP2, without the numerous problems it caused.

    Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that; is it due to extra few million lines of code added?

    SP1 fixed all the issues vista had, SP2 is a short list of hotfixes for specific technologies. SP2 for xp was supposed to be a new OS and not a SP.

    It was due to the security center plus a ton of new enabled features like the new wireless center. All that added up to a huge system slow down.

    SP2 was fine, but added a lot of overhead to XP. When I used a PC from that period switching to SP2 was great, but did cause a slight slow down in performance. Using a PC made now the difference is negligible.

    Could be that SP2 would be a stepping stone to Windows 7.

    From what I've read, SP2 won't give us much to look at. Sounds like it's more of a performance boost. (I know, funny, right?)

    Not performance, more a roll up with some new features aimed toward Windows 7. Thus far, no real performance boost from the BETA, but I haven't noticed any slowdown either. I have not encountered any BSOD, not something I can't say for the original SP1 BETA1. Though I think I should install SP2 BETA on my notebook to tryout some of the new Wifi features and stuff. Leave it to say, I have not noticed one new shining feature in SP2 (then again, my desktop isn't using Wifi).

    Oh really? That's cool. <strike>Examples of these features?</strike> Edit: Never mind. Just saw this page. Some pretty interesting stuff.

    Actually, I kind of wish Microsoft just left them for Windows 7. Might actually give me a reason to upgrade (as opposed to being forced to upgrade without a reason :rolleyes:).

    Bluetooth 2.1 (haven't used yet)

    New Wifi Console (which I haven't seen yet)

    Somekind of a Blu-ray feature, writing I think (don't have a BD-R)

    So on and so forth, w00t!

    (Don't you mean upgrade to 7...err...6.8)

    This is what I got from another site, these are the Vista SP2 features:
    * Support for VIA 64-bit CPUs
    * Support for Bluetooth 2.1.
    * Support for ICCD/CCID smart cards.
    * Support for native Blu-Ray media recording.
    * Windows Connect Now (WCN), a new tool to assist in connecting to Wi-Fi networks.
    * ex-FAT file system, supporting UTC timestamps to ensure correct file synchronization across time zones.
    * Windows Search 4.0 integration.
    * Improved support for resuming with active Wi-Fi connections.

    Besides Search 4.0 and the Wifi, I don't see anything else I'll be using anytime soom. I am happy with an update roll-up though.

    Nice features added, but not too important to me for now.. Anyway, what's the difference between bluetooth 2.0 and 2.1?

    Audiosurf is acting funny on SP2 Beta.
    Heavy HDD activity during the first few times of SP2 boot because (I'm assuming) Windows Search 4.0 is re-indexing my files.
