I did a bunch of the tweaks listed on here and removed/disabled a bunch of programs and everything seems to be running fine except that whenever I turn my laptop on has soon as you hear the Vista Startup Sound it like glitches, sounds like it skips... Should I be worried?

It doesn't really matter, however, if it bothers you, maybe you could try System Restore. As long as Windows boots and everything is working correctly, then there is really no reason to be worried.

Do you think you could post a video on to Youtube or something, showing us how it sounds?

I've had that before, even sometimes the startup sound late. It won't matter anyway.

It isn't the Vista symbol screen, it happens when the desktop is loading up. The sound skips a bunch, like it's glitching or something...

With Vista, I notice that a lot of problems are solved by resetting the "problem" and turning off the system and then rebooting. Why don't you try this with your log-on sound problem.
    1. Right click Desktop, choose Personalize, Sounds, and then, in the Program Event drop-down menu, go to Windows Logon.
    2. Put your cursor on it and highlight it, and then go into the Sounds drop-down menu, go up to the very top item labeled None (or choose any other sound that you like), and select that. Also, UNcheck the box that says "Windows Startup Sound"
    3. Then, once that's done, turn off your computer and reboot. If you chose None, you won't have any sound at all when you reboot, or if you chose a different sound, you should hear that one.
    4. Now, go back into Sounds, repeating the process, but choosing "Windows Startup.wav" as the Windows Logon sound, and rechecking the "Windows Startup Sound" box.
Hopefully the problem will have been solved. You can also try experimenting with the sound Themes in that same location. A lot of problem solving in Vista is just trial and error.

before we get into all this, I am curious to know, what exactly did you "tweak" with windows vista? I won't claim to be a technician-level expert, however I will say I managed to fix all problems I ever had with vista for a year and a half ongoing now. I've never seen a need to cut this or that out, so I want to know what you did before trying to suggest a solution

I disable a bunch of start-up programs/uninstalled junk files (Officer, Norton, etc.)...

I turned of Windows Search and Windows Search Indexing...

    Turned off unused Windows features...

    That's it. Basic stuff.

I think I know what you mean. My laptop make a strange noise when I turn it on.
I can't remember doing anything to my laptop for it to make those noises. I think the noises come from the CD thing. It hasn't affected my computer yet but the noise is making me a little worried actually.

Okay, well Norton isn't windows based O.O
But what you might want to do is enable all windows-based startup programs, see if it works, then one by one disable what you think you don't need, and check the startup sound. It *WILL* be a tedious task, but it's a surefire way to figure out what caused it. Assuming when you enable everything it works as normal that is.

But honestly my recommendation to you is start with a fresh install of Windows Vista. It removes bloatware that OEMs may give you (if your machine is a Dell, HP, Toshiba, or even Acer or Gateway, then i know you have bloatware on it. Might be the best thing to do.

And don't use recovery discs either, they restore an image to the hard drive... bloatedness 100% included

I wouldn't be too worried. If it ultimately does not affect the performance of your laptop, I'd just let it run its course. While you could hunt down the cause of the problem, it could take a lot of time and negate the benefits of making all your tweaks in the first place.

My Toshiba didn't come with a Vista install disc, only a Recovery Disc Program but I think it comes with all the junk :(.

It has the junk but yeah if you want to reallly trim the fat that's the only way I know of. Getting rid of the junk. But again like someone posted earlier, if you aren't seeing any performance drops or negative effects on your system, you might wanna let it slide. But if you ever had to truly redo the OS, use a standalone disc and get your drivers from online. Trust me on this, on my old HP it cut out about 500MB of RAM at startup, and no more annoying popups every now and then asking me to "check for updates" and "if i want to view internet offers" and blah blah blah
