Hello, I'm from Brazil and I've bought a notebook Asus W7S, without a proper OS installed. So, I've got Vista Ultimate and tried a clean install, unsucessfully. Every time it reaches "Completing Installation" the system hangs. Progress bar doesn't move, only my mouse (touchpad) works, but rapidly freezes every 4seconds.

I've tried MS solution to change harddisk, but the problem continue. This notebook doesn't have any drivers from Windows XP, so when I try to install it I got a BSOD too. If this hardware have xp drivers, I would try nLite to merge them with windows xp original installation, but this is not the case.

What suggestions do you have? This notebook bios doesn't have options to disable SATA or speed step technology. I don't know what to do...

I would just try the install again and let the computer sit at the final step as long as possible. I once had to let XP sit at the final step overnight to finish installation. It's Windows, remember, you do what it lets you do.

Your W7S didn't come with the restore disc included? With that disc, it's a simple matter to have everything reinstalled and pre-configured (albeit with the bloatware, but that's removeable).

No restore disc... I read another posts saying that after 6 hours vista installer still freezed, so I dont see any reason to do that, the normal installation takes 1h max...

    Any other idea?
