This afternoon I installed Microsoft Office 2007 and End Note X2. However now everytime I try to open either of them Windows runs the configuration part of the install before it opens up the application. This is really annoying. I am running Vista Home Premium. Does anyone know why Windows is doing this?

Have you rebooted the computer since it has been installed?

Tell us what you have done to try and stop this.

Mine does this occasionally with Office 07, as well. Never have figured it out, and it always finishes actiavted, so I just deal with it, and find something else to do until it finishes. Guess that's like turning up the car radio to "fix" a bad noise, though...

Do tell when/if you figure it out.

I have tried to restart but it still does it. Other than that I don't really have any ideas, I was hoping someone on this forum might know what the problem is.

i'd guess that there will be some incorrect record in the registry... i don't have office here, so that i cannot look for the exact name, but i bet that there will be some key for the configuration wizard run, with a value 0 instead of 1.

Have you tried to delete and re-installed the program?

Did you install any patches for office since installation? Or do you have any programs that put add-ons to Office?
