I tried beta one, not the latest build, by mistake. it took 2 hours to install and didnt have the new gui as I had an older build, there were no drivers either... the only thing that worked was the network card and the ATI driver.. I had no dvd drive or anything, I guess the ati chipset is too new.. maybe the new build is better, I have to try it again. it was the x64 version..

Well I didn't have it on there too long, like a week. I thought the look with the black taskbar was pretty good. A lot of software like Photoshop wouldn't install on in. Seemed like XP tweaked to me. One thing I did not like was I could not get the folders pane in windows explorer.

I tried the new build and so far I am not impressed at all. MS needs to get there software to run smooth. Yes all the new looks are good, but if it is jumpy on the computer than it is just annoying. Find some developers that can write efficient code and have to OS run like it should if they are expecting everyone to be using it and for it to be really secure. Give us something new, spend a little bit of the billions they make each year to make a superior OS, not just a tweaked version of XP. I mean c'mon if they are spending this much time on developing the OS and it is still really jumpy they are wasting everyone's time. I guarantee if I had a year to learn code and everything I could churn out a decent OS in half the time Microsoft's design team takes to put out the Beta. Also, if they put out efficient software then it would give software companies a good foundation to base their software off of....hmmmm, that sounds a lot like Apple to me.

I am not a huge fan of Apple, but I really respect the way they handle the software they put out for their computers. They develop software to run smooth and error free, whereas Microsoft develops software with all this "new" improvements that runs choppy and then other software companies have to find out a way to get their software to run well on a terribly inefficient and unrealiable OS. XP has been Microsoft's best OS yet, but it still has a lot of problems with handling true multitasking. OSX is great at multitasking and the Macs are not as powerful as the current PC's. MS should learn from their competition and start actually thinking about the everyday consumer instead of trying to impress all their business partners with the "new" features that Vista will have. :base: <-- should read "MS can blow me"
