I am planning to buy a new laptop later this year once Windows 7 is released. I also have a new unused XP 32 bit CD, and am hoping to partition the HD and run W7 and XP.

My question is: will I have to buy a laptop with Windows 7 32 bit, or will I be able to run W7 64 bit on one partition and XP 32 bit on the other partition?

    Thanks for any help.

    Cheers
    Brian

    I can't think of a reason that you couldn't run XP 32 bit & 7 64bit on different partitions.

You can run XP 32-bit on one partition and W7 64-bit on another without issues. I'm currently running W7 RC 64-bit on one partition and Windows Server 2008 32-bit (same kernal as Vista) on another without issues.

You're welcome, feel free to post back if you have more questions about dual booting.

Yup; I think I've even heard of people triple-booting XP, _Vista, and Win7, each on a separate partition.
