    Hi.
As the title says I am on windows XP, and have a Sony Vaio PCG-8M9M. Everytime I try to login it tells me that I need to activate windows before i can login, so i click Yes and a window comes up on my user background saying "Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit". So I click OK and it just logs me out. I cant even log into safemode for the same reason
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Got an installation CD? Re-install it! Looking like either you are in a loop from some wrong upgrade, or the licence is being flagged as "pirate"

    cheers ...

Check with Microsoft's activation phone-in system; if it's a problem that has affected a large number of systems, they may be aware of it and know how to deal with it.

EDIT: Well, whaddya know, MS even has a knowledge base article on this little sticking point, so it must be fairly widespread. The KB in question is KB312295, and it describes how to remove a particular script that interferes with the activation mechanism.
