Wasn't sure where to post this question. The other day I had a file (portion of an interrupted download of a firefox extension) that I could not delete, kept getting the message that the file was in use. I tried a few "file killer" apps and those did not do the job. So, I attempted to enter safe mode in hopes that the what ever was using the file would not load and i would be able to remove it. After rebooting and selecting safe mode, my windows logon would come up and I would log in. Shortly after hitting enter a popup would appear (very briefly) saying something about safe mode could not be accessed there was a possible conflict and the computer would immediately reboot. I made several attempts unplugging any external devices (hard drive, cooling pad, & mouse) that might cause some kind of issue; but nothing helped. Anyone know what the problem is here? One thing I didn't try was running safe mode with NHC turned off could this be the problem? In day to day use my laptop runs flawlessly.
BTW, I finally got the file removed by using one of the file killers to delete the entire folder the undeletable file was in? Not sure why that worked but at least its gone now.
I love it when trying to solve one problem leads to more problems![]()
Thanks
Zack
