2 questions (sry if this is long) Also this is a Desktop.
1) I am trying to help my neighbor out with his computer problem. He is running Windows XP and has Norton Anti-virus, but his problem is his computer is crashing every 1-2 min. It will get to XP and load most of it stuff. But then it will just shut down and reboot. No warning message, or nothing just shuts down.
So I am able to get into Safe mode no problem computer was on for 20 mins no problem. I did also go into the run -> msconfig .
I picked "Load Basic devices and services only" and XP starts up fine, and it doesn't shut down either. But I can't run Norton, Can't use my USB (won't see it, but lights up)or surf the internet to figure out the problem.
Below is the (msconfig) command in the Run...

This isn't his computer, but what can I have checked and what not check. In order to run the internet, use my USB, and run programs like Norton.
Or where I can use either AVG or Zone Alarme Pro.
So you know I have checked Everything in the System.INI and Win.INI and it wouldn't even load into XP, Got to the Welcome screen died and rebooted again. So what can I have checked and what should I not check.
2) But this is all the info he was able to tell me from norton before it crashed again. (what we all think the problem is)
Zlob Trojan
Blusod Trojan
I have looked on the internet and neither one say's anything about rebooting.
So does anyone no of something better to remove these Trojans off. (With out paying if possible) I do have AVG and will try that soon. But need help from any of you guys. Thanks in advance

The fact that it lasts longer in Safe Mode but still reboots tells me that it's a hardware issue. Run memtest, the hard drive manufacturer test, check voltages on the power supply, check the motherboard for blown capacitors, make sure the video card's fan has not seized up.

Well See I thought the problem is with the Mother board or with the pwoer supply. Because Like I said, Windows will start up but shut down every 1-2 mins.
But in Safe mode and with just "Load Basic devices and services only".
The computer stays on for 20 min no problem.
I am sure that this is not a Hardware problem, I am at least 90% sure it a software problem. -
No, the computer is much lighter on resources when it is in safe mode than regular windows, so if it is a hardware issue such as bad ram or hard drive, it would take much longer for the windows to access that part and cause the crash. Do follow Hep!'s advice. I would also suggest, if possible, to open the case and watch it as the computer boots normally. Watch and listen carefully to what happens when the computer reboots.
