I'm getting my new Inspiron e1705 either today or nextweek, the preinstalled OS is WMCenter.

    - QUestion :
    - XP pro or media center better?

    - IS the Media Direct play worth it? is there any cool stuff in there?

PS: Thanks for this website for 750$ off for my laptop

    here's the spec
    2.0 duo core
    17 inch truelife
    1gb ram
    80 gb hdd 5400rpm
    dvd-+rw
    wireless 39XX
    bluetooth
ATI X1400 <--- the only thing i dislike I wish if i order sooner i can get the GeforceGO ..

totall 1461$ , it's not very bad for a 17 inch power house laptop.

Windows MCE is XP pro with a set of extensions which handle the multimedia interfaces (multimedia technology such as: TV Tuners, FM Tuners, Video Capture Devices, Digital Cameras and more). The system provides all the extra securities of adminstrator, user privileges, network securities the the full XP pro provides. At present Microsoft only officially distributes MCE to OEM manufaturers for installation on fully configured multimedia systems. The manufacturer is expected to provide the multimedia support. That makes an MCE computer a bargain way to get XP pro as well as multimedia functionality.
