    Hi

I've just had to reinstall the synaptics drivers for my acer 5920, all the mouse buttons and media keys work fine, but everytime i startup windows, windows always asks me if i want to run the synaptics software. Obviously i do. Basically how do i stop this and make it run automatically. When the security box comes up on startup i untick the box that says always ask on startup, yet it keeps reverting back. I'm using vista hp 64bit. I got the drivers from acers website and they are the 64bit drivers. I've tried the drivers from synaptics but my media keys won't work with these. I don't want to disable on startup as my media keys and scroll butoon won't work. There is a probably a real easy answer to this yet i can't find it. I feel like a real plum having to ask lol!!! I've also gone into windows defender and it says the software is permitted.

    cheers

It's ok fixed it. Had to run the computer in safe mode and right click on the offending file and unblock it.

For future ref... you don't need safe mode, but the file needs to be in a directory you have permission to modify. So if unblock isn't working... move the file to the desktop (or your home directory or something), right-click and Unblock it, and then move it back.
