For some reason when I close the lid on my laptop and it stays there for 30-45 min or whatever, when I open it back up it's frozen. First I try moving my cursor, and it's incredibly slow and stuttering. Then I try to press the windows key on the keyboard and then it completely locks up. It's not going to sleep or hibernate, so it's not an issue there. Any ideas? Thanks!

What if you disable EIST/CoolnQuiet? I know it kicks in even when you don't close the lid, but it's worth a try.

Or, try to set the HDD to spin down after say 90 minutes, and close the lid for 45 mins. If the problem is gone then I guess there's something wrong with the HDD. If so, download Speedfan and make an online test.

    Or, have you tried reinstalling?

Are you are closing the lid on your laptop while running it at something close to full power?

If so, you machine has possibly overheated and locked up. Keep doing that and you'll kill your machine. Dead.

Laptops aren't designed to be run with the lid closed.
