Weird topic... Yeah.
Anyway, I've noticed that Windows XP Professional on my computer doesn't load immediately after I've signed in with my username and password. Instead, it waits for about 10-20 seconds before the HDD LED starts flashing and Explorer comes up.
Is there a way to make it login faster?

Hi Lundmark,
I wrote an article about optimizing your notebook to make it run faster. It is posted as a sticky near the top of the hardware forum on this site. It should help you.
good luck

My guess is services are starting that you don't need...

I slaughtered 16 services and the computer is a little faster. Who needs remote registry anyway!

This issue isn't however related to services, as the problem remains even in safe mode.
Before I reinstalled Windows on my machine, Windows wouldn't even log in. After I had typed my username and password, and pressed "OK", explorer wouldn't start up. Nothing happened, Windows had stalled.
I found a poor workaround for this by making the computer hibernate and then wake it up again. This made Explorer.exe load as it's supposed to. I would like to know though how to prevent Windows XP from stalling in the middle of the login process in case it happens again.
Anybody acquainted with this problem?
