I just bought new software and every time i go to install it, a message pops up that says something like "could not be installed because windows installer could not be accessed because windows may be in safe mode or windows installer may not be installed correctly" blah

I've been trying to fix it, i got the windows installer redistributable 3.0 from microsoft.com, but i go to install it and it says it installs, but it doesn't.

you people are smart, can you help me out?

window's installer doesn't appear in my add or remove programs,

the odd thing is... when i type in "msiexec" into the run box, i get info about it, it says it's "Windows ® Installer. V 3.01.4000.1823 "

I ran the setup anyway, but i still get the error message

Wow, very quick with a response :)

Okay, i looked at the page, and it applies to me. I tried the first method which is matching to see if the registry is right, but when i did it, it turned out to be at the same path, so that's good. So moving on to the second method, i cannot get it to work. I bring up the command prompt and i type in everything, but it all says it cannot find the file specified.

    my cmd prompt begins with....

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>

i'm guessing it should just start with a simple

    C:\>

    ?

Did you type in this exact line after the command prompt?

    attrib -r -s -h c:\windows\system32\dllcache
