Windows says I have an HD-DVD drive, when I most certainly do not. (Although, I wish  )

Any idea what is making it say this?,

    Maybe you have...
Get the exact model number and google it - although it would seem strange if you are speaking about the Sony in your sig.

    a sony and hd-dvd, that's like a mac with blueray :)

but seriously, maybe it's identified itself wrong and got a wrong driver due the update.

A DVD drive with an identity crisis?

You most likely have Daemon Tools installed. I do and that's the label given to my virtual drive.

^ That is most likely the problem as DT has listed my BD-ROM drive as being an HD-DVD drive before.

If you know how to triple boot Vista, 7 and Ubuntu, then this should be simpler to find out.

Yes, I do have it. That is probably it. Why does DT label itself as an HD-DVD drive?

Probably because it's emulating the characteristics of an HD-DVD drive.
