    hey all

My computer has recently (3 months) been randomly restarting itself. When it restarts fully, an error message comes up saying "Windows has encoutered a serious error" would u like to report.... da da da.

What is it??? This sux, i'm losing way to much time and work from my pc restarting suddenly. It doesn't do it just in games, it'll do it when I'm surfing the web. It's not the temp, I'm running around 45 degrees idle. Plus, it wouldn't say there's a system error cuz it's too hot.

I don't want to have to reinstall windows, that's not really an option.

    help?

The error message you are getting is normal and doesn't necessarily mean you have a software problem. Whenever a system reboots or hard crashes that is a typical Windows message you'll see after it reboots.

Now as for your problem. When you get random reboots that typically is a power related problem. I would say check where you have the computer plugged into.

Is it plugged into a surge protector and is that surge protector full of other devices?

Have you tried plugging it into another outlet just by itself?

You might also be experiencing a bad power supply in the unit. Again from my experience with random reboots. It's usually a bad power supply or bad power.

I would also like to add. Check for a loose AC plug going into your computer. You might also want to check your connectors in the computer to make sure they are not loose.

While your at it re-seat your memory modules. Also check your power connector on the mother board and your power connector on your hard drive. Make sure they are in tight.

    ok thanks guys.

for rod. My pc is plugged into a surge protector which is the base for all my other electronics. I have about 8 things running off of it. should i try taking some of them off and seeing what happens? i'll try the just the outlet option. i don't want to be replacing my PSU now... i'm only 14 wiht limited funds obviously. but i could be the PSU since it is the stock psu in the case.

    thanks
