    Hi guys,
Just wanted to know a bit more about Windows asset management. Bought an used Dell Latitude laptop from an used goods store - really good price (when I received it - there was a sticker on the system to suggest it was previously managed by a large IT company - I didn't think much of it).

It came with W7 without any drivers, etc. When I run Windows 10 clean install - soon as it's connected to the internet, it fetched updates, etc everything seems fine. Then there was an restart - afterwards device manager was gone when I loaded cont+alt+dele (I didn't think much of it); and gradually I got logged out by it?! I tried to boot into safe mode to see if it's corrupt user data caused; but then it shuts my out too; then no longer able to login, a message similar to "Userprofile service cannot logon" appeared. I thought this was a bug / something similar - but I reinstalled Win 10 pro and Win 7 pro with same result - both within a short period of connecting to the internet; also it sort of wiped the drive where I had plugged in to install drivers (!), and it uninstalled "Chrome" which I installed shortly after loading fresh Windows (before locking me out). This thing seem to have a mind of it's own! (got the odd feeling this unit isn't meant to be used).

I called the store, they said the original owner was approved to sell it by that company (I imagine the company didn't whitelist the laptop); I spoke to the large I.T company that the unit belonged to - they suggested normally just to return it to the store (I will do in the morning).

It's turning into a fascinating user experience. Does anyone know more about the technology / software this might be? It seems pretty deeply integrated / e.g. if it could detect / shut down new clean Windows, then it probably is an asset management software with partnership w/ Microsoft. Really like I.T so keen to find out a bit more about the asset management (I just find this whole thing intriguing - always assumed it existed - just haven't seen it working in person).

Did you check hashes of W10 ISO, could be corrupted though. Try creating your user account as a local account instead of Onedrive or MSA. Do you see a process called AbtSvcHost or something, it means your laptop is protected by LoJack security solutions, might wanna try asking the original user to remove the device from his/her Lojack account.

Did you contact Dell support and ask them since this is their laptop to get more info about the weird computer itself? That would be what I would do before coming here since it's a Dell laptop.
