Hi guys, just downloaded the latest Windows Live Messenger install package. Tried to install it, but the "preparing to install" message appeared for 3-4 minutes. Then an error message appeared telling me I wasn't connected to the internet and that installation couldn't continue. However, I am connected to the internet (on a wireless network) and I am running XP SP3, and my computer certainly meets all the requirement for Windows Live Messenger. So, I don't really know whats wrong?? Anybody got any ideas?
    Thanks guys

Did you uninstall internet explorer? Are you using proxies? Did you set the proxies in Internet explorer?

i would suggest using a different instant messaging program such as digsby or pidgin. but if you are dead set on this you could contact Microsoft and see if they can help you.

Open Internet Explorer. If you never configured it, do so.

thanks for that, but what do i change them to?? I've had a play about with them and windows live still isn't installing. Still says "preparing the installer" for like 5 minutes and then stops and says im not connected to internet?? do i need to change proxy settings to a certain setting?
