Do any of you get the error where windows loads a temporary profile, because it either could not find it or did not have sufficient privileges to load it? And how do I get rid of it?

Now with Windows 7 yet, but I've seen it with earlier versions. First step, run system restore to a point before the error occured

I get a temporary user profile if I log into quickly. So at the log in screen (since my account is password-protected), if I don't let it finish loading for a few seconds, it will load up a temporary profile but in that case, i can log off and the next time I log in, it will be my profile. I think it has something to do with a driver but I went through the list and I don't know what could be causing it.

What kind of error is it?

Windows will load you into a temporary profile if your current profile is corrupted.

In my case, there is no error. It just says it couldn't load my profile but if I log out of the temporary profile, I can easily log into my proper profile without problems and no loss of data or files.

never seen something like that...I wonder if what you think is happening is really happening.

If you care to run an experiment, next time it happens, create a temporary folder with a unique name on your "temp profile" desktop and reboot. When you log back in on the correct profile. Do a search for the folder. Where is it located?

Also, with hidden files and folders showing, what do you see in the c:\users\{profile name) folder?

Create another profile and see if the problem can be recreated in it.

are you sure this is because of logging in too quickly? i've had this problem before also (not too frequently, maybe once a month). however just logging off and back in does not fix the problem. instead i have to do a full restart to get back into my normal profile. anyone with any ideas on how to prevent this from happening?
